Lara Louise - Director
Lara is a natural choreographer. Her commitment to dance excellence is evident in her success in taking students to international competitions, such as the World-famous New Dance Prague Festival, where her students won First, Second and Third place three years running in Jazz/Hip Hop, best young dancers and choreography awards.
Some of the students received a special best dancer award throughout all the competitors, on a World-wide scale of countries including Japan, Guam, Germany, Australia, USA, Israel, Russia and many more.
Lara’s journey began at the tender age of four at Chrystel Arts Theatre School and Agency in Edgeware, London. Her exposure to the World of Dance and Drama quickly turned into a passion, earning her silver and gold medals in numerous competitions.
In the early 1990s her family relocated to Spain where her mother Jayne Melville, having been a professional dancer herself, on the World famous Benny Hill tv show, Hot Gossip, Dick Emery, Morcombe and Wise, Little and Large and many more decided to open up her own performing arts academy. One of the only schools teaching students a syllabi-based structure. Examinations are offered with The British Ballet Organization (BBO).
Lara was not only a student at her mother's school but became instrumental in assisting her mother with teaching at the Academy from a young age. Lara went on to receive private lessons by Ray Barra, former Principal dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet Company, master of the Spanish National dance Company, Berlin State Ballet, Frankfurt Opera and The Hamburg Ballet to name a few. Lara also had the privilege of being trained for many years by Wayne Sleep O.B.E. who later became patron to the school.
At the age of 14 Lara left Spain to attend The Urdang Academy of Ballet in London. She was one of the very few students who got the chance to be accepted at the Lower School. Lara was trained by Leonie Urdang herself, before Leonie sadly passed away in 2001.
After completing her vocational training, she came back to the Costa del Sol and introduced Hip Hop and Street Dance. A new craze that quickly became very popular on the Coast. Aside from being a key teacher and director at her mothers academy she also taught all types of dance at many of the International schools along the coast.
Former alumni have gone on to full time vocational training at the most prestigious schools including The Royal Ballet School. Some onto live television shows, including finalist of the X Factor in the United Kingdom, some travel the world performing on cruise lines and others have opened their very own dance schools.
